Billy Say It Ain't So
You could not have been arrested at 7:10 a.m., on Thursday last. District Attorney Ramos surely did not send 50 deputy D.A.'s to your home to search for illegal drugs while dispatching 15 to friend Dino DeFazio's Artisan Real Estate Office at the famed historic Green Tree Inn.
The support group you told me was in place for you when I extended an offer of help would never let this happen to our most powerful county politician.
You had the support of your parents, your family, loyal employees and friends. When you came to this town you held court perhaps in the coffee shop, the lounge, a conference room or the fine dining restaurant. Everyone that knew you were coming in hoped to be part of the group. The privilege to sit with power, glad hand and talk about being a supporter.
For well over a year I was a supporter. I accepted your arrogance and defiant demeanor as attributes that perhaps would generate a positive change form a man who could lead city, county and perhaps one day a nation.
We enjoyed meals, conversation and spirited debate. I observed both pain and strain. I hoped those who were surrounding you at the local restaurant would feel your pain and insist on getting you back on the right track.
You had no fear perhaps even snubbing your nose at us from time to time with the belief you were indestructible. We shared text messages in the wee early morning again as dawn approached I offered my help again you refused it saying nothing was wrong, no problems. Hundreds of thousands of people looked to you as a leader, as a free thinker as a future force of American goodwill. Instead you continued to try and convince yourself, fellow county leaders, friends and your family that all was well. We lost a promising young leader to illegal drugs according to reports on January 15, 2009. Our lives will continue some for the better of knowing Bill Postmas, some disappointed they new him and some who wish it was "Billy say it ain't so"!
